What is All-on-X?

All-on-X dental implants utilize a special, minimally invasive technique to restore complete smiles using only four or eight implants on each arch to anchor a denture. In many cases, All-on-X dental implants can keep patients from needing to undergo multiple preliminary surgeries, like bone grafting, in order to be a good candidate for dental implants.

In some cases, All-on-X treatment can allow for the extraction of a severely damaged tooth or teeth as well as the surgical placement of the implant posts in the same day for a faster, more convenient journey. It also allows patients to enjoy the same natural-looking and feeling results that patients who undergo traditional dental implant procedures get!

The Process of Getting All-on-X Dental Implants at Holger Dental Group

Due to Dr. Holger’s extensive experience in the placement and restoration of dental implants, including his year-long Maxi-course in Implant Dentistry at the Medical College of Georgia, our team is able to complete the entire procedure in-house. That means that you’ll be able to rely on the same team throughout your entire journey. Below, you can find a step-by-step guide on what you can expect from the process:

  1. Detailed Examination: Holger will complete a thorough oral exam and our dental team will gather your medical and oral health history. We’ll ask about any functional concerns you’re having because of your tooth loss and discuss other factors that may impact your journey towards a whole and healthy smile.
  2. Diagnostic Imaging: Using our state-of-the-art cone beam CT scanner, our team will be able to view your jaw density as well as the location of your facial nerves and sinuses. This will inform our approach during dental implant surgery.
  3. Computer Simulation: Before we place your dental implants, we will create a computer simulation of your smile that allows us to determine the ideal location for your dental implants to provide your denture with the most support.
  4. Pre-Optimizing Your Health Before Surgery: Our team will make sure your overall health is pre-optimized before surgery. Along with your medical team, we will recommend vitamins and probiotics, as well as home-care and nutrition coaching to help ensure outstanding and long-lasting results.
  5. Oral Surgery: Finally, our team will complete your surgery. Typically, placing dental implants takes approximately two to four hours under sedation for both arches.
  6. Securing Your Denture: The last step of your journey will be to attach your denture to your dental implants and complete your smile!

All-on-X vs. Traditional Dentures

There are countless differences between All-on-X implant dentures and traditional dentures. Some of the most prominent differences between these two tooth replacement options include:

  • All-on-X dentures are able to restore up to 80 percent of your original bite power.
  • Unlike traditional dentures, no adhesive or additional products will be needed to ensure the function of your All-on-X implant dentures.
  • With the proper maintenance, your All-on-X implant dentures can last for over 20 years. That’s about four times the lifespan of traditional dentures.
  • Because your All-on-X implant dentures are permanently attached within your mouth, you won’t have to worry about special cleaning routines. Simply take care of your restoration like you would your natural teeth.
  • With a strong and stable foundation, your All-on-X implant dentures won’t slip or shift when you talk, leading to a more confident you!
  • All-on-X implant dentures look, function, and feel completely natural.
