Get to Know Kate Topuz, DDS
Dr. Kate Topuz joined Holger Dental Group in 2022 and officially became a member of our team upon finishing dental school in 2025. Her favorite part of being a dentist is helping her patients achieve the smile they want, all while she gets to work alongside such an amazing team. Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Topuz decided to become a dentist because she loves how it blends art and science. For her, dentistry challenges her to be precise and analytical, while still getting to exercise her creativity and give her the chance to help people feel confident and healthy.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Topuz first completed her Doctor of Dental Medicine at the Ukrainian Medical Stomatological Academy. She also completed several internships, including one at Bogomolets National Medical University in Kyiv, Ukraine, and another at Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse, France. Then, in 2025, she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.
Before becoming a dentist at Holger Dental Group, she worked as a dental assistant, so she knows the practice, team, and patients very well! She’s committed to continuing education and is consistently pursuing advanced training in cutting-edge areas of her field, including digital dentistry (CAD/CAM and 3D printing), esthetic and functional restorations, and facial esthetics (BOTOX and dermal fillers).
Dr. Topuz’s wide skillset and several years of clinical experience, combined with her strong academic foundation allows her to provide comprehensive patient care. She’s also an active member in a number of professional organizations, including the Minnesota Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Topuz’s hometown is Donetsk, Ukraine, and she moved to the United States in 2021. Her parents and younger brother have been settled in Minneapolis, so she feels right at home since her family is nearby. Her family provides a strong support system for her as she continues to build her life and career in Minneapolis.
Whenever Dr. Topuz isn’t at the dental office, you can find her spending a lot of time reading and cooking, sometimes at the same time. She loves food and enjoys experimenting with new recipes. She also enjoys traveling and has a passion for art, which means she’s the kind of person who finds museums fun! Being out in nature is something she’s passionate about as well, and she’s always picking up new skills and hobbies outside of dentistry. An interesting fact about Dr. Topuz that you’ll soon find out is that she has suspiciously good handwriting for a doctor!
